Syria, Jordan, Israel, Sinai

It's been 34 years since I first visited these places shortly after the Six Day War of 1967 when Israeli forces occupied the Palestinian territories (West Bank, Gaza, and the Golan of Syria overlooking the Sea of Galilee), and advanced only 30 miles from Damascus itself. Jericho, near the Jordan River, was a ghost town; the refugees were settling in Jordan in brightly-colored tent cities.
